The Turkey Burger: A Healthy Take on an American Classic

It’s the little things like swapping out the heavy hamburger buns and adding more nutritious ingredients such as sprouts. Feel free to season your ground turkey¬†with spices such as lemon pepper (my personal favorite) or a spicy Jamaican Jerk spice! Try to¬†stay away from sauces, they tend to be super high in sodium!


Makes 4-6 patties

-1 lb. ground turkey meat (preferably thigh meat)
-1 medium red onion, finely chopped
-1/2 cup fresh parsley, minced (or whatever fresh herbs you like)
-1 tbsp garlic powder
-1 tsp pepper
-cheese (optional)
-tomatoes (sliced)
-spinach and or sprouts
-Sliced whole grain bread

Mix ground turkey, parsley, onion, garlic powder, and pepper together. Form patties and grill on medium heat for 7 minutes a side. 2 minutes before burgers are done, place a slice of cheese (optional) on each patty. Dress up with tomatoes, spinach, and sprouts!
